(en) The work of M. Voloshyn to the maximum extent characterizes the main paths of aesthetic search of Russian literature of the late XIX -early XX centuries and mirrors the originality of the ideological and artistic paradigm of the era, contributes to the understanding of the ethno-mental phenomenon of Russia. The article reveals the essence of M. Voloshyn's historiosophical concept in the poem “Northeast”, explores its ideological and artistic originality in the focus of mental and ethnic principles. A comparative analysis of the source poem and its Ukrainian translation by M.Fishbein deepens the understanding of the specifics of the national worldview. The author analyzes the role of the poem "Northeast" in M. Voloshyn’s work, finds out the factors that influenced the evolution of his art world. The work determines the dominants of the artist’s creative manner: intellectual and emotional tension, deep interest to the history of Russia, the priority of moral values, tragic optimism and ethical maximalism. While analyzing the semantic fields of space, time, society, power, the elements in the source poem and the translation, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that the authors of both the original poem and the translation version are emotionally and mentally close. Disharmony, apocalypticism, and infernality of the space in the poem “Northeast” are emphasized, and space is known to be an important marker of ethnomentality. Particular attention is given to the name of the poem, because the “northern east” locus in the world literary tradition is also burdened with ideological, worldview content associated with the civilizational confrontation between the East and the West. The coloristics of space is analyzed in detail; the predominance of black and white with bloody glints is emphasized. The author points out the idea that color expression is an important element in the manifestation of M. Voloshyn's individual emotional temporythm. The author explores the role of tropes in both the poem and the translation, and concludes that images that portend destruction and death are promoted. The article asserts the opinion that the chronotope of the work contributes to the disclosure of the essence of the Russian history, and more broadly - the fate of the country. Particular attention is given to the comparative analysis of the final partof poem and its translation version, since it contains the quintessence of the historiosophy of M. Voloshyn.
