(en)The article analyses various newspaper publications related to the «harvest festival», which was given great importance by the occupation authorities. There is no separate study available in which the issues concerning celebration of the harvest festival in Ukraine during the Nazi occupation would be fully disclosed. The author involves the relevant records from the period between 1941 and 1944 in publications from various regions of Ukraine and abroad. As a result of the study, the following conclusions were made: The Ukrainian-language newspaper periodicals of the occupation period contain a considerable amount of information regarding the harvest festivals in various regions of Ukraine. Most of the relevant publications, typically issued in 1942 and 1943, relate directly to local celebrations. Celebration of the harvest festival could be arranged on a large scale and, depending on the venue and level of organization, involved various mass events combining organic folk traditions and foreign paradigms of the occupation authorities. The events were attended by representatives of the German civil and military authorities and Ukrainian institutions. Rewarding and material incentives for the best employees or individual territorial units as perceived by the authorities were practiced. In some cases, the celebration of the harvest festival could be combined with the allotment of land to peasants, which meant their transition from communal to individual farming, as well as with another anniversary of the «liberation» of a settlement from the Bolshevik rule. Publications related to the topic of the harvest festival, covering the history of harvest rites and customs of the Ukrainian people, as well as individual articles and paragraphs about the celebration in Germany and other allied countries, were also released in the periodicals. The celebration of the harvest festival in occupied Ukraine always served as a publicity opportunity for the authorities and was used to intensify Nazi propaganda among the local population.
