Методологія повторного видання старих перекладів

Abstract

(uk) На прикладі роману «1919» модерніста Дж. Дос Пассоса в статті розглянуто методологію підготовки старих перекладів до повторної публікації. Автор виділяє етапи дослідження та опрацювання тексту друготвору, зупиняється на проблемі розбіжностей різних редакцій старих перекладів, виправлення їх помилок і неточностей, функціонуванні паратекстів. Статтю підсумовує розлогий алгоритмом підготовки перевидання старих перекладів.

(en) This article utilisesthe example of the modernist novel Nineteen Nineteen (1932) by the American writer John Dos Passos and its Ukrainian version by an outstanding translator Vasyl Mysyk (1934). The latter has never been republished since 1935 so the issue of the new edition is urgent. The author of the paper claims that the methodology of the older translations editing prior to the follow-up publication is a scholarly problem rarely discussed in much detail. Several stages of the old translation preparation have been suggested, they cover the whole pre-production cycle ranging from the OCR of the old printed matter problems to the paratexts editing inrespect with current Digital Age environment. Providing some striking examples the author delivers some insights on problematicissue how to deal with translator’s mistakes and stylistic inconsistencies in new editions. Summarising the paperits author builds up an algorithm how to deal with old translations in current conditions and the sequence of actions necessary to provide the optimal result.
