Застосування тестових завдань у навчанні граматики студентів мовного факультету

(uk) У статті розглянуто проблему методичного забезпечення навчання практичної граматики англійської мови на 1–2 курсах факультету іноземних мов, порушено питання про застосування на заняттях тестових завдань з навчальною метою. Тестові завдання розглянуто як вид вправи, виконання якого контролює безпосередньо викладач на занятті, при цьому студенти пояснюють особливості вживання граматичних структур. Розглянуто методику організації навчальної діяльності студентів на занятті з практичної граматики, методи і прийоми застосування тестових завдань.

(en) The paper calls into the problem of using tests at the practical grammar classes with the objective to develop students’ grammar skills, which are the component of linguistic competence. Grammar skills along with lexical and phonetic skills enable students to develop communicative competence, which is defined as the main and final teaching/learning objective. The emphasis in the article is made on practical aspects of teaching sosome examples of tests for developing linguistic competence are being presented with the consideration of the objectives and their use in the teaching/learning process. The aim of the research is to describe and analyze different types of tests used in teaching grammar and developing students’ skills: multiple-choice tests, matching, sentence completion, rephrasing and true-false choice. Such tests may be widely used in the teaching/learning process providing an opportunity for students to develop their ability to differentiate and distinguish meanings of modal verbs, communicative functions and peculiarities of using verbs in different tense forms. The article presents some sets of tests developed for freshmen and sophomores, English language learners at the school of foreign languages. Test sets consist of a few tests aimed to develop skills in using a particular tense form or tense forms studied at a definite period simultaneously (learning active and passive verb forms). Teaching methods and approaches are described as well as students’ activities, their expected performance – commenting the modal verb use and its meaning, communicative functions of the active and passive verb forms. A special focus is made on the efficiency of tests in developing professional skills of would-be teachers.
