Анотація
(uk) У статті розглядається питання формування пунктуаційної компетентності студентів вищих навчальних закладів, які вивчають англійську мову як фах. У зв’язку з орієнтацією освітнього процесу на компетентнісний підхід, доцільно уточнити перелік інтегральних і фахових компетентностей, які визначатимуть зміст вищої освіти в межах певної спеціальності. З-поміж фахових компетентностей майбутнього вчителя англійської мови особлива увага надається формуванню фонетичної, граматичної, лексичної та мовленнєвої компетентностей, тоді як розвиток пунктуаційних навичок не є окремим завданням підготовки фахівця. Оскільки рівень комунікативної компетентності особистості великою мірою визначається її правописною і пунктуаційною грамотністю, виникає необхідність уточнити зміст пунктуаційної компетентності та визначити її місце в освітньо-професійній програмі підготовки вчителя англійської мови.
(en) The article considers the hot problem of developing students’ punctuation competency. A new approach to teaching is competency-based education implemented to both secondary and high schools. Well-designed competencies determine the level of efficiency of an all-rounded personality. When implementing the competency-based approach to language teaching in higher educational institutions, it is necessary to develop a list of integral and special competencies for a prospective teacher of English. The competency based curricular courses basically aim at developing phonetic, grammatical, lexical and communicative skills, while punctuation efficiency is not singled out as a separate task. Students’ low efficiency in punctuation is explained by the native language interference. Punctuation rules are partially considered in classes of grammar, when explaining syntactical structures of complex sentences. The author of the article advocates that punctuation efficiency is to be included into the list of special competencies for prospective teachers of English. The paper reveals the idea of developing punctuation skills in connection with other competency-based courses: Practical English, Stylistics, Grammar, etc. Special attention is paid to the strategy of developing punctuation efficiency while working with texts of different functional styles of the English language. Besides, the author urges to implement the course of Academic Writing into the curriculum for prospective teachers of English.
