    Generalization of calculation methods for gender indices in demographic and social statistics

    (en) Currently, theoretical and practical approaches to gender issues are at a developmental stage. An important issue in gender statistics is the correct application of simple gender indices. This topic should be of interest to scholars and social workers engaged with gender issues. Due to the fact that gender parity/asymmetry indices give different results in different spheres of application, there is a need to develop separate methodological approaches for applying the indices to demographic and social statistics. In the research presented, mathematical methods were used to obtain complete and accurate quantitative characteristics of simple gender indicators. Methods of statistical observations, statistical groupings are used in the process of collecting, systematizing, and processing data. Results are graphically illustrated. It was established that when calculating gender indices for demographic statistics, the use of simple Gender Parity and Gender Asymmetry Indices is correct, and when calculating gender indices for social statistics, specific corresponding modifications should be applied which adjust for general demographic trends when analysing the gender distributions for selected social spheres. In exceptional cases (when demographic indices of the number of men and women are comparable) gender parity indices can be used when calculating the gender indices for social spheres. Therefore the results indicate that the analysis of gender parity/asymmetry requires separate methodological approaches for demographic and social statistics.

    Adaptation of the UN’s gender inequality index to Ukraine’s regions

    (en) The article analyzes the application of Human Development Index and derivatives from it indexes that take into account the gender factor. Today this index is used both for building a country ranking on the level of human development, and for studying the situation in the regions in the context of the indicators of this index. We proceed from the fact that for the countries in which sub-national regional indicators are very diverse in different spheres it is expedient to adapt not only the index of human development, but also the indices of the development of human potential taking into account the gender factor. This article suggests an adaptation to the sub-national level of Gender Inequality Index in the United Nations (UN) basic methodology and according to the method suggested by the authors, it is provided for a revision of the system of indicators for which the index is determined. The results obtained by the authors made it possible to compare the indicators and the trends of the two options for calculating the sub-national indices with the corresponding indicators in the country of the last 10 years. The authors concluded that Gender Inequality Index indicators in the country and Gender Inequality Index indicators derived from the UN basic methodology did not reflect a rather wide sub-national disparity. The expansion of the base of the indicators for the determination of Gender Inequality Index allowed the development of a new method of the sub-national Gender Inequality Index adaptation, to clarify the GII index calculated according to the basic methodology and, therefore, to prepare more objective political, economic and social recommendations in the context of development of human potential, taking into account the gender factor.

    (en) The article is dedicated to the definition of methodological conditions under which the use of the solution and research of the “task series” generated by a given task topic will acquire methodological expediency in the context of developing students' abilities to solve mathematical tasks of a productive nature. The authors suggested a possible way to solve it through the synthesis of integrated knowledge and the formation of the integrated images of the task topics that allowed students to develop knowledge and skills of integrative mathematical activity.

    Construction of Theoretical Model for Sustainable Development in Future Mathematical Teachers of Higher Education

    (en) In this paper, the authors have identified the main features of constructing a theoretical model of the content part of the future mathematics teachers’ training system in a pedagogical institution of higher education in Ukraine in the context of the implementation of the education model for sustainable development. In order to build such a model, the authors have organized a study in the form of an expert survey of specialists in the field of education, specialists in fundamental mathematical disciplines and in the methodic of teaching mathematics, master students, as well as mathematics teachers – participants in retraining courses. The authors have determined the discipline (methodic of teaching mathematics) which became the basis for the model of the content of the future mathematics teachers’ training system in the context of the implementation of the education model for sustainable development. The above course in the content such choice has been confirmed by the integration properties and capabilities of the discipline, the potential of its substantive and methodological components for the generalization and systematization of mathematical, pedagogical, natural-scientific and humanitarian knowledge and skills, as well as for the formation of systemic thinking. When studying the issue of including a special course in the content part of teacher staff training program, aimed directly at creating an understanding of a human’s role and one’s dependence on nature, at creating a peaceful and open society, where everyone would have equal rights and opportunities, the authors have distinguished disagreements in experts’ opinions.

    Analysis of key factors of influence on scientometric indicators of higher educational institutions of Ukraine

    (en) In the article, the authors set out to determine the degree of influence of factors (the university's profile, the year of its foundation, the number of scientific and pedagogical staff, the population of the city in which the educational institution is located) on the indicators of the publishing activity rating of teachers of Ukrainian universities in Ukraine (according to the Hirsch index, which determined by the indicators of the SciVerse Scopus database). One-way analysis of variance and multiple regression models were used for this. As a result, the influence of all the proposed factors was revealed, although the degree of influence for each of them turned out to be different. The article also determines the degree of influence of these factors on the operational indicator of scientific activity of teachers - the number of citations in 2018-2019 of articles in 2018 per teacher. In this case, the same methods revealed the influence of only two factors - the profile of the university and the number of scientific and pedagogical staff. Conclusions are drawn about the need for building university rankings using operational (rather than cumulative) indicators of scientific activity and the importance of taking into account the profile of educational institutions by introducing weighting factors.
