Funeral rite in the mound of Scythian Time near Vasyne

(en) The article is devoted to an analysis of the funeral rite from the mound near the village of Vasyne in Kirovohrad region. The site is located on the border of the Dnipro right-bank forest-steppe and steppe. The main Scythian burial was deposited in a wooden chamber on the ancient ground surface. A complex wooden burial structure of oak timbers constructed over it was partially burnt, but was well preserved. The remains of artefacts found in the burial site, including fragments of ancient amphoras, among them plump-throated Chios, thin-walled antique black-figured kylix, fragments of ceramic vessels, and animal bones. Undoubtedly, the most interesting find was a stone anthropomorphic stele of grey granite. The complex dates to the first quarter of the 5 th century BC.

(en) The author of this article presents his point of view in relation to the information of the 16th –18th centuries maps about the existence of the settlement Blue Water, which turned out to be the real city of the Golden Horde type. Results of archaeological excavations strongly indicate some kind of an emergency situation caused by the fire forcing the people to leave their city. Most likely, this situation was caused by a military attack. The Annalistic Blue Water is a modern river Sinyukha, on which banks in the first half or in the middle of the 14th century emerged and grew the city with striking features of the Golden Horde culture and colorful ethnic composition of the popula tion. Inhabitants of the city were not only eyewitnesses of the violent events, but suffered all the troubles and hard ships accompanying the war. In the early 1360s, thelife ceased in the Golden Horde city on the Blue Water and its inhabitants were forced to leave their homes. Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas recognized by contemporaries as a superior strategist, implemented the campaign plan against the Golden Horde, according to which he struck the Golden Horde outpost on its western border. The decline of one of the administrative centers of the khan’s power in the Northern Black Sea region had a direct impact on the victory of the ithuanian-Russian troops in the Battle of Blue Water in 1362, which defined the future fate of the Ukrainian lands.

Проаналізований внесок дослідниці в організацію системного археологічного вивчення Кіровоградщини під час роботи в обласному краєзнавчому музеї та у Кіровоградському (нині – Центральноукраїнському) державному педагогічному університеті, її роль у створенні університетської археологічної експедиції. Акцентується увага на результатах наукових досліджень Н. М. Бокій, дається перелік її визначних наукових відкриттів, що увійшли у “золотий фонд” вітчизняної археології

(ua) У статті подається аналіз архітектоніки та технологічних особливостей теплотехнічних пристроїв, які використовувались у виробничій сфері Торговицького поселення - гончарного горна, печей і тандирів. Встановлено, що їх концентрація на північно-східній околиці золотоординського міста засвідчує існування тут осередку гончарного виробництва, де продукувались червоноглиняні неполивні посудини та сфероконуси.
